Tuning and rf amplifier |
· Tuning selects just the signal we want to hear from all the many different radio signals being transmitted on different radio frequencies. · Tuning uses tuned circuits consisting of inductors (coils of wire) and capacitors. · The rf amplifier increases the signal received from the air by the antenna. · Antenna are connected to receivers by special wires known as feeders. |

Detection |
· Detection is the process of recovering the original modulating signal. · The process is sometimes known as de-modulation (reverse of modulation in the transmitter). |
3 |
Audio Amplifier |
· The audio amplifier increases the detected audio signal to level that can be used with a loudspeaker. |
4 |
Loudspeaker |
· Sometimes headphones are used in place of the loudspeaker. |
You should already recognise the symbol for the antenna or aerial on the left and the loudspeaker on right. If not click hear to remind yourself of circuit diagram symbols.
