Geoff's Challenge 1999
The
competition was to design(?) and build a single valve transmitter or receiver,
or to build a reproduction crystal set.
The judging for the competition was to be held at the (official) May
1999 meeting. In the end only two entries
were made, but they both were extremely well presented. Shown on
the left is the one-valve receiver from Norman.
Dennis
won the event with his very well made crystal set seen on the right. He even made a reproduction Galena detector
and holder to fit into an 'Art-deco' shoe box that had been around in his
family for many years.
